Anyone have a lead on a good carb rebuild kit for a model H 1" updraft carb? For the high compression gas engine? Should I expect to pay such prices as 90.00 dollars for a rebuild kit???

You can't beat the IH kit if you don't mind parting with $85...it's as complete as you can ever expect to find and a very good quality. You get pretty much everything but the float.

I get all my carb kits from an O'reillys auto parts store. There not as good as the Case/IH kits but so far I have never had any trouble from them either. I pay around $15-20 for each kit depending on what tractor I need the kit for.

Here's what I like to do....disassemble and completely clean the entire carb and all parts in a good commercial carb soak/cleaner. Take note of parts that might be "iffy" and replace them but don't buy a full kit. Blow out all passages and clean it again. Blow it out again and replace only the gaskets and the parts that you need. Seems like more often than not, you won't need a full rebuild kit.

I rebuilt the carb on my H and was happy with the IH quality. The only problem I had was the brass nut leaking so I made my own gasket (softer gasket material). Also, change ( doesn't come with the kit) and ream the throttle shaft bushing.
