I am trying to get specs for setting valve lash and the proper procedure for doing this adjustment on this tractor. I am helping out a farm friend with no Internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated, if you need additional info I will try to get it for you.

I like to do it one time only. So I use a 20 thousandths gauge with a stone cold motor. I turn motor by hand until #1 is top dead center with rotor button at #1 tower. (of course the mark will be aligned with the pointer) Set both intake and exhaust on #1 at this time. Before you turn the motor, take a ruler and chaulk a line across the front of the balancer. (this way you can turn motor 1/2 turn and then adjust #3 both valves) Turn motor another half turn and mark will line up with the pointer again. Now adjust #4 both valves. Turn motor another half turn and now you do #2 both valves.
After you have done all this...Throw the lever to the gas start position and check your starting valve adjustment. The IT manual gives you the distance for this. This is how I do it. I throw the lever as previously stated. I then mount a dial indicater above one of the four starting valves and taking a brass drift, I push down on the little valve cap as far down as it will go and then set dial indicater to zero. When I release the down pressure I get a reading...this is the clearance factor that you need. This adjustment is made by either lengthening or shorting the rod that runs behind the carb. I have found that a dual fuel motor don't like to start if the starting valves ain't set right. Believe me...It is easier to check and adjust than the book I just wrote. If you need any more help on your dual fuel tractor...call me at 704-622-2134 DREW
