Stuck Engine!!!!!!!!!!! 300 gas 1955 Row Crop

I bought a tractor a few days ago, you Guys in Forums Helped me find out what model it was, Thanks!!!! Well when I opened the engine I found a surprise of water. I never tried to run it becuase I didn't believe the guy who sold it to me said it turned over a few days ago. I told him ya right just give me your best price! 1)Once I let it sit in ATF whats next lightly tape the pistons with a wood block? I also heard lightly tap rods? Any suggestions????? ?

Hi Jose,
Seeing you must have the head off, visually inspect the pistons. Clean them up the best you can and if it still looks pretty bad soak it with a solvent like kerosene, liquid wrench, transmission fluid. The idea is to let it soak so the rust disloves just enough, so when you come back to it in 2-3 days hopefully with a sharp blow with a heavy hammer on top of a block of wood which is setting ontop of a piston, it frees up. Use some discretion you don't want to use a big sledge hammer as hard as you can because you can damage your pistons. You want to try and save them if possible. If it dosen't free up with a sharp blow from a 3-5 pound hammer let it soak another 3-4 days. You just have to be persistent, the object is to free it up and not to damage anything, otherwise it can run into a very expensive project. Bob

This is how I do all of the ones I have done, and thats more then 10 of them in the last year or 2. I blow out the cylinders if there any thing in them. Fill with tranny fluid and walk away for a few days. Then I set a battery on them and hook it up. Then I hit the starter button with short fast taps and watch the fan/crankshft pulley. If it moves any at all I keep doing it. If it doesn't move I refill the cylinders and let it sit longer. Now since it sounds like you have the head off another thing you can do that works is put a tablespoon of gas in the tranny fluid and lite it up. That heats the block but not the pistons. Then when the fire goes out try the starter thing. Doing that has worked on all but one engine I have done it to

I GO AT THIS A LITTLE DIFERENT THAN MOST FOLKS.I PUT WD40 IN CYL,LET SET OVER NITE, PUT THE TRACTOR IN 2ND OR 3RD AND PULL IT BACKWARDS.I JUST DID A 560 ROLLCROP USING MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK.PULLING IN REVERSE MAKES THE CRANK TURN BACKWARDS TO WHAT THE STARTER DOES.GOOD LUCK,RANDALL

Biggest problem with doing that is you can and at time will brake rods, bend crank shafts or even brake the crank shaft. I've seen all of those thing happen by pulling one that is stuck. The starter will not put out enough torque to brake thing but more torque then a man and a long bar can ever do

What did ya pay for it?
As for help, this has been discussed over and over, best to do a forum search for stuck engine help. I've never dealt with a stuck engine, but since my 3 months on here, I've read about 10 threads on it in that time alone.
Hope once you get it unstuck its in good shape to run and doesnt require much $$$ to get it running good.
I'm scared to do a compression test on my 300u, it runs good and thats what matter to me, but curiousity might kill the cat =)
