My Farmall # FAA 103,333 is a 1944 and was re-painted "International Red" when it was restored, but, when I installed a new harness I found a darker maroon-ish red paint inside the switch box. I have seen posted pix of both colors in various places on the web. So the question is, when is what supposed to be which???? I have been told that Cat went to brite yellow for safety reasons, did Farmall do the same?

Thanks CK I guess it came down to whatever shade they had in the sprayer that day. Expecially during the 41-45 time line.

Correct code is IH 50/DuPont/7410/PPG 70019. It will likely NOT be the same shade that was on your tractor when new. IH had at least 4 paint codes from 1936-1961 along with a 5th one that occurred sometime in the 70's, possibly early 80's I believe.

I think it would be safe to say that years ago and even today with all the paint that i have applyed on anything you will find a difference?

Another though is that paint is years old with lead base seem like the IH red gets darker with age?

I"m sure someone else might know better, but i believe IH red changed shades several times over the years. And especially during the war years certain pigments werent available. Unless your a purist, i think any reasonably close shade to IH red looks fine. I personally did my SA and W4 in Mack red, which is only slightly brighter than the IH red.
