Help needed with Temp Gauge

I bought a used temperature gauge(with the short lead, for the H's and M's, etc) and it is missing the bushing that screws into the head. The smaller diameter threaded piece is on it just above the bulb. So, my question is, does anybody know the size bushing(thread sizes both O.D. and I.D.) that I need to install it? Thanks.

One from any aftermarket mechanical temp gauge should work. Should be available from any auto parts stores that sell aftermarket gauges. They are pipe thread on the outside and a special thread on the inside. but the special thread is pretty standard for all temp gauges.

Thanks to all you guys for your helpful responses.
Allan: I kinda figured the bushing was a special one. I'll certainly try the dealer with the part# you provided.
old: If I don't have any luck at the dealer, and can't find one around my shop, I may give you a holler for one of your extras if you could let one go.

TM,

That bushing is IH specific and CaseIH is the only place I know where you can find one unless you should happen find a kind soul to send you one like I did, or perhaps find one in a salvage yard.

The inside threads are different from anything else carried by any hardware store and are not a standard brass thread. You might think it is, but it isn't.

Call your CaseIH dealer and order part number 51510-D.

Allan

If you have parts from a temp gauge set you should also have the right sizes. In all the gauges I buy theres a couple extra parts in them for differant size set ups. I have a few laying around in my shop but I'm also one that keeps all that little stuff because you never know when it will come in handy

I replaced one last year and I rember measuring the hole in the block...saw it was regular pipe threads in there, then went to the hardware store to the bushings and found one that my bulb fitted and matched the thread and diameter to the block. Would like to be specific but I have now forgotten.
