I am rebuilding the engine on my Super C and want more power. I searched the archives and found a post from you about domed pistons. You also mentioned running a coil ignition system and changing the jet in the carb. I searched for pistons on this site and found stepped pistons. I have found fire crater pistons elsewhere but not high altitude. Which is best? What I really need is a list of parts to complete the build and sources for the parts. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have the 3 1/8" pistons the sleeve OD will
be 3 5/16" at the seal. If the engine has been rebuilt with an overbore kit and has 3 1/4" pistons, the sleeve OD at the seal is 3 7/16". Hal

Before buying any kit check the part# of the block to see which dia the sleeve will be at the bottom where the o-ring goes mite not even be a bad idea to pull one first then you realy know the correct dia.

Install the 3 1/4" oversize pistons, Put new Valves in it and have 3 angle valve job done,Plane the head enough to true it and if a carter carb Drill out the jet to the smallest of the Number drill bits or No60 its .040 and will work well without any other carb mods and you should have 29+HP if distribitor timed corectly!

30 45 60 degrees on the head and this gives you better air flow and more power!

Yes go to the fire craters and 3 1/8 bore. HI-DOMES are also good. I think the FIRCRATERS mite have a little more power. If you have a ZENITH you can get a next size larger jet for the carb. Dennys will have them. There is a # on the jet or you can drill it out a few thous larger. The DIST will give you advance curve. A mag will go to 33 advance as soon as it starts. If you go to the dist mite be good if you can find someone with a strob to check the curve and make sure it works fine.
