Super A Final Drive Assembly Question

I"ve finally got to the point where I"m reassembling the bottom axles on the final drives. New seals, bearing, etc. My Super A came with a seed drive and that side went together and the rear axle turns just fine when driven via the transmission. The other lower axle turns just fine until I tighten up the cap screw. I believe all the parts are on in the proper order: Cap Screw, lock washer, washer, that funky looking spacer that fits over the shaft, bearing, and finally the spacer that goes against the Bull gear. The shaft became harder and harder to turn as the cap screw was tightened. Is this normal or do I have a problem here? Also, what keeps the lower axles from working their way out? I don"t see anything that would keep them from working their way out as the tractor is driven. Thanks in advance!

the cap screw holds the axle in, the axle can only be removed from the other side and the cap screw and washer will not allow it to slide out with out removing them first.

It sounds like a spacer or washer is binding the bearing.

Thanks. From looking at the manual it just didn't look like that there was anything holding the lower axle shaft in.

Did some looking with a flashlight up into the final drive housing. Noticed that the bolts that I used to secure the upper outside cover were too long and were binding against the large gear. Backed them out a bit and this freed it up. I guess that when I tightened the cap screw it pushed the gear enough to bind against it.
