Hey, could I get some prices from people who recently purchased (within, say, the past 6 months) Farmall H's and a short description of what condition the tractor was in? I am trying to get an idea of good market value for a few H's that I found.

Its been alittle over a month ago, $1200, in Maryland. Tires old & weather checked, dent in top of grill, faded & rusty, rear wheel weights. Runs pretty good, hyd, pto, brakes, trans, everything works but the lights, temp gauge, & I noticed its not charging. Had a 506 New Idea loader on it, I have taken off, don't know if I'll put it back on? I'll fix it up some but not to show condition, I figured it would be some cheap HP for disking, hay rake, stuff like that.

I bought my 41 H summer before last for $400,widefront,running.I took it down completely and did it from the empty transmission case. All it needed was a manifold and a rear outer axle bearing and some general maintenance and you could work it.

All the while I restored my Farmall C,I thought I needed an H,when I sold my C,and was doing my H,I thought how nice it would be to have an M.Now I have a finished H,an M THAT'S A BASKET CASE,and I'm thinking how useful a Super A would be.

I have a half an acre of ground,I don't really have use for any of them.

Be careful, tractor restoration is very addictive,LOL!

I bought my 47 H last year here in Indiana. She runs great, straight tin, Brand new tires all around, working 3pt hitch, 5 foot blade and a lifting boom for $1550.00. I figured the new tires and 3pt hitch was worth that and the tractor was free.

1941 H purchased in July of '06 I paid $350 for it with a stuck engine, dented up sheetmetal but good rear tires. Maybe not the best deal but still I am happy with what I paid for it.

I got mine awhile back on ebay for 670.00. Almost perfect tin, needed carb/ gas tank cleaning and electrical work, but now runs like a top. Junk tires all around, but they hold air,(some better than others). Im in So Cal, Not a huge amount of tractors to pick from, I have no regrets on this one.....Tom

Allan in NE forced me to buy an H off E-bay! hehehe

Actually, I think I got a sweet deal, and so do the people here. I paid $650 for it. It's running, the hood is bent and torn a bit, and the back tires were modified combine wheels.

I'm still looking for cheap original wheels for it. But one thing at a time. First I have to get it home.

Last year October I paid $920 for a good running 1945 H with decent rubber and a good transmission. Had been sheded all its life by the same family.

Have 3 H's, two of them bought a few years ago, one this last year...

Bought this one for $400: 1942 Farmall H with IH 1110 mower on it, engine stuck (later found out ruined), transmission ruined from a bad bearing, mower needed work, wide front in excellent condition (sold front end for $400).

Bought this one for $150: 1942 Farmall H with narrow front for parts, transmission was good, engine wrecked from water.
third party image

Used both of those and about $3500 worth of parts to get it together like it is today with Schwartz wide front, live hydraulics and power steering:

Just bought this one last summer (made payments and picked it up a couple weeks ago) for $1500: 1942 Farmall H with IH wide front, 3 new tires, runs good, transmission good.

I'll add to my above post that I sold the wide front off my most recent purchase for $450, so I have $1050 in the tractor now. Tin needs work, but mechanically seems to be sound as we have put about 25 hours on it since we got it home.

Most recent one was free, but not all that long ago bought a 51 H with a wide front, good mechanical condition, faded but intact paint, decent tires, for $1750. I really wanted a wide front and they are hard to find in my area, so I paid a little more than I should have. The tractor was probably worth $1600 or so.

I only buy non-running H's... $500 for a non running H, in good or bad condition.

In running condition? I sell them between 1,000 and $2,500.

Depends if they have 3 pt, live hydraulics, wide front ends, etc.

My opinion? A running H in mechanically good shape is worth 1,500.

I bought one about three months ago for 1025. The paint was excellent. The motor runs very well except it smokes a little blue. It pops out of road gear too. Other than that I really like the thing. I bought if off of Ebay since it happened to be close to where I live.

About one year ago, I did not buy it but watched it sell. Late 40s, mechanically very solid, like new rubber all the way around, one small dent in the grill, rest of the sheet metal very straight, missing the battery box, paint very faded but still there. $1,400

1952 Farmall H...good solid tin, fenders, belt pulley, weather checked front and rears, shedded it"s whole life, would crank but not run...$650.

Rebuilt the carb, ignition tune-up, fresh oil front to rear...runs like a champ!

Not within the last 6 months, but I had to give $1850 for this one, which to date has needed nothing but fuel; it was like a new tractor when I bought it.

I immediately dumped that trike front end, mounted the loader and installed live hydraulics as seen in the second picture.

Do you still have that Narrow front? I have been unable to locate one around here. Shipping would probably kill me though.

oh yeah, you'd be surprised what a "cheap" H can amount to.
Last H I bought had a failed roller bearing in the tranny. Destroyed the gears. Had to purchase a new rearend AND have to do all the labor to install the new rearend, transfer wheels, seat, post, etc.. alot of work.

Yes Sir, I hear ya.

I'm pretty darned sure that I'm over the $6K mark with mine even tho the tractor was pretty much a "gem" when I bought it. But, it was sure worth it.

It is the sweetest little loader tractor ya ever drove. Thinks it is a 560, but of course it's limited by the smaller front tires and the slower ground speeds.

All and all tho, it's a fun little tractor to use for light chores around the place.

I purchased my H last year for $ 2000 it looks siminlar to allen's when he bought it. Narrow front with a front end loader and trip bucket. I had to work on the charging system and lights. Tires are real good no dents paint is better than normal. I feel I got a real good deal.
