Brad: A Farmall 130 came to our farm when I was 16 years old. That was 46 years ago, and I've never lost my love of these little tractors. I farmed with tractors like H, SM, 300, 504, 656, 560, 1066 and an articulated Deere. At 64 I have a Super A, 130 and 140, plus 22 implements I either bought, fabricated or modified from 3 point hitch. We loved these little tractor for mowing 7' bar until the haybine came along. we still continued to rake hay with them even in the days of round baling, bear in mind it took both SA and 130 with two side delivery rakes to stay ahead of round baler. But you know something, a lot of kids learned to drive those two little tractors raking hay. I remember one kid in particular, back in the days of square bales and 130 only. My dad had him raking hay when he was 8 years old, and he raked it all even though dad's daily production averaged better than 50 ton per day. That young guy stayed with us until he was about 22. He had the urge to go long haul trucking. He is now 48, has seen every Province in Canada, every State on mainland USA, probably logged 5 million miles and has yet to put his first scratch on a motor vehicle. Those were the real driving schools of our great nations. My dad always said, start them off on a SA, 8N, Fergie, etc, then let them graduate to the big tractors. Of course in his day the big ones were 300, 560, etc.
