I may be looking at new radiator if my original can't be patched? Can anyone recommend a good source? Obviously price and quality are the major considerations here. Thanks.

George

Not sure what part of the country that you are in. Have a real good radiator shop not far from where I am. Courtney's Raditor in Mt. Airy, Maryland.

He re-cores radiator's with same size units as what he starts with. Also now repairs radiators with plastic tops and bottoms.

One man show, but he's good. Took my radiator off of my 340 to him when I over-hauled to have it cleaned and checked. 1st thing he asked me was did it leak? and did I realize that it may leak when he got done he got done testing it out (ie rotted).

He was able to clean and degrease, test for flow and found no troubles. Been 10 years since I had this done, still with no trouble to this day.

I have an IH radiator that I think came from a small power unit and appears to be the right size for your tractor. The core is 16.5" from top flange to bottom flange and is 3" thick. The steel frame is 18" wide. The top outlet is soldered over and replaced with an outlet that fits to the bottom of the top tank. A radiator shop can use your old outlet to make it right. It has been hanging in my barn for 20 years and I just as soon turn it into cash. The fan shroud is painted yellow so I think it is probably fits a later "A" derived variant.

Email me if interested, and I will send some pictures.

You can give Northern Factory Sales a call on Monday at 1-800-328-8900. They may need the IH part number from your old radiator. Hal

George: Back 3 years ago when I had to replace the radiator in my 140, I went to a local radiator shop and had them do a recore. I did that as there is a large number of antique tractor collectors in this area that strongly recomended the shop in question. The recore cost very close to new radiator price.

At that time I was seeing a lot of discussion on this forum about new aftermarket radiators that were not the right size to fit under the hood of a particular tractor. I is my opinion that local radiator shop has the old radiator, not much chance for a mistake in size.

I have been quite happy with my decission back then. I will warn you however, pick a radiator shop that knows tractors, we've also heard recore disasters, here on discussion.
