I bought a W-6 from Colorado and the tires are filled with Calcium chloride. I feel it does more harm then good. How do I dispose of this stuff? Can I just spill it on the ground?
Thanks,
Charles

As long as it isn't leaking, don't worry about it. Unless you take the tube out, you will not get it all out.

You might contact a local tire store and see if they would take it off your hands. They do reuse it.

Our local Case/IH dealer won't touch a tractor tire with calcium. It's hard to dipose of here in MD. They recommend using used ethylene glycol
antifreeze since it can be recycled and isn't so corrosive as calcium chloride. Hal

I used what I drained on an area of my gravel road the was connstantly growing weeds. Kept 'em away for about two years! I got rid of mine after the tire delveloped a small leak and started corroding the rim, The stuff really eats steel pretty fast, too! I put iron wheel weights on, which I can remove or mount as needed.

I agree with Randy. I wouldn't want to dump 100 gallons of the stuff. Whether it is an enviornmental concern, I don't know, but you will sterilize the immediate area for a while. If you happen to have a tractor mounted sprayer, and an area to spray it, spray it out -- or else spray it on a roadway as Randy suggests. Or call the tire company, and they will take the stuff, for a fee.

if you have a stone driveway that is a good place to drain it. when there were a lot of stone roads around the county used to spray it on the stones to hold the dust down. now the state highway dept. sprays the highways with it before it snows. but i'm sure some 'greenpeace' person would tell you to take it to a hazardous landfill.
