I have searched the archives typing different keywords and can"t find an answer to how to enlarge a picture for posting. After commenting a couple weeks ago about searching the archives for posting pictures, I now need advice. Included is my first posting of a picture I did over the weekend. Thanks in advance.

I enlarge my pictures on the scanner. They can be enlarged 200%. The scanner is on a Brother printer. Hal

At least this is something I know about.

You need a paint program of some type; photoshop, adobie, infranview, etc.....

But... this is a big but.., you can enlarge the images but the paint programs use pixls and dont know where they go and just puts it wherever it wants so it makes it blurry.

You can make big images smaller but I wouldnt even try to make small ones bigger, it just dont work that way.

Having said that, I will enlarge whatever you want if you send it to me. I need to know the pixl or inch width and/or height that you want to end up with.

Actually, that's not quite true. All electronic images are composed of pixels. The higher the resolution, the smaller the individual pixels. What happens if you expand a photo far enough is that you see the individual pixels. Some programs will try to smooth the transitions between pixels, so you see fuzzy edges instead of a mosaic of little squares.

You can't create more information than was in the image you started with. It's easy to decrease resolution, i.e., combine pixels, but kind of hard to guess where the edges are when you try to make more pixels than you started with.

There's some pretty sophisticated impage enhancement software out there, but I for one am not will to pay for something like that....

third party image

Where is my brain this evening. Having a rough time getting things straight with my postings, i.e. forgetting stuff, is it "Senior Moments" or "Al"s Hinders Disease" ?? Remembered to put photo in this posting. Wondering if it can be enlarged as I see some pictures take up width of forum message. Need to "get my stuff out of this "98 SE computer and put the newer one into service, this system is so old/non Windows supported now, I can"t upgrade browser and lots of other STUFF.

Your image is 448 X 446 pxls. Its a very good quality as well and dosent need anything done to it.

You might want to shine those shoes tho, other than that I see no problems.
