I used the ULSD most of the fall season and my old 826 seemed to like it. My gallons per hour rate maybe even ticked up a notch and the tractor definitely smoked less. In the end I got a little paranoid about lubricity and added some Stanadyne, but basically from an operational standpoint, I give it a thumbs up. It's also nicer to deal with... less smelly and less oily. It evaporates faster and cleaner than the old stuff. Any other reports?

Sulfur has been known as a lubricity agent for years. Yes, the refiners are adding a lubricity agent to replace the sulfur that is being removed.

AMSOIL makes a ULSD addative to help with lubrication. 99% of the time AMSOIL is better than the competition performance wise.

Everything I have read about ULSD states that there are new additives to take care of the lubricity issue. Another fun fact is that the sulfur does not lubricate; however, the process for removing sulfur also removes the components that lubricate.

Believe me, the oil companies are replacing the lubricity lost in the desulfication process (NOT by the actual lack of sulfur!!!) adequately. They can't afford NOT to.
