I guess all said and done we all have problems with generation changes. I have vented to my children how important good spelling and gramer are. That came back to bite me in the rear end as my oldest son brought me some of my great grandmothers letters. He asked me to read them and explain everything as I went---without rereading. I had to admit every generation makes changes. The kids always ask many questions to me as What is a hot water heater, or why would you need to heat hot water? or the reason to even have one? In the winter the HWY patrol reports the HWY's are 0 to 100% ice packed, that should cover it these cold winter days--and July days as well. The kids make it a point to ask me why the English language is so stupid. How many 2's do we need, there are to many there's,buts, and whats up with the letter Q not being able to work it alone? PH sounds like what? I ain't had much school housin, but tell them it is just like religon, don't ask why-- it is just because I was taught that way and everybody else in this world just don't know any better. So till I get the time to tell them why everybody else in this world is wrong --- so you will just have to do as I say is correct. Yea It is upseting to read some posts, (like my post) untill you think over the real reason we enjoy this fourm, to get smarter from those that have been there an done dat. I personaly like to hear from those who know the answers, and perhaps do not know how to spell perfect. Rather just good answers and time and cost saving tips, from the school of hard knocks. If we were to get only answers from the gooder spellers and gooder gramer dudes we probably would be looking at blank pages. I certiany would hate to be judged by my spelling most of the time. I'm also reasonably sure if a expert was to examine all the perfect posts, they could also find falt. The younger generation seem to comunicate very well with their short cuts, I can't always understand,(perhaps their intent) My youngest son said that they are just correcting words the dumb generation ahead of them have screwed up. I have no idea of most of the ages on this fourm, but like myself the older I get the more things tick me off---the more things tick me off the less attention folks pay attention to me, the next step as years progress is for all folks to avoid me as I scream at the staff at my nursing home from behind a locked door. Yes, there is always room for self improvment, yet I certianly hope that a expert on old tractors, and a not so good speller will answer my questions regardless, and I also hope they feel good about helping others. I have a big fat stomach, and I have never eaten to many meals where the small fork is where it is supposed to be, such as a expert tells me on the TV as the proper way. I don't eat my salad first always, I can burp the ABC's pretty much in order, and the butler has had alot of days off it seems. So far I never drank wine the way the wealthy upper class does. Yet heck I bet I can tell them better how to fall off a bar stool and not even feel embarased till someone the next day tells me about it. Up here in NE IA we never marry anything closer than a sister, yet we somehow seem to get alot of onlookers that love our peacful way of life and want to retire here. I hire alot of summer help, and have had alot of good folks including many teachers. A few were English teachers that sure knew alot about ---English--- Yet, overall they knew alot about ---welllll---pretty much English. I must add a little humor to this long post. Several different friends of mine sent notes to school with their seven year olds. The teacher assumed she was obligated to correct the spelling and punctuation in red ink and return it with the children to their parents. Long story short, most folks thought that it was not in her best intrest to correct, or actualy insult the parents. (Kind of like the saying that those who live in glass houses---) So ended up there was a strong push for everyone in our small comunity to help the teacher become aware of her improfection, the mistakes in her life and teaching job. It took her about a year and a half to find out that there was better jobs in the other side of the state. So to sum this up I will read all the posts even if you do spell all the words correctly. Heck yea I mispseled alot of words in this post, but you must realize they hung my dad for stealing horses, my mom worked the street corners, and I never been normal since the mule kicked me in the head as a child --so what did you realy expect from me?
