I have a SA with no ID plate on the Transmission. Is there any other way to ID it correctly?

I located the plate on the transmission housing and the engine. They both end with a "T". So according to the info posted earlier I will assume that it is a 1950. Thanks for all the input folks.
Thanks for the offer Mark, but I live in Western WA.

There is not going to be a T on the plate. You must be referring to the casting date codes.

Yes, I am. They were 4-3-T on the Tran. housing and 5-6-T on the engine block. Is that correct that this means it is a 1950 model?

JPM, Where are you located. I just finished a Super A resto this past summer and would be glad to assist if you are in eastern WA.

JPM: If the serial number is not on left seat support, I'd tend to follow the casting codes as Mike has suggested. The problem with SA engine serial numbers is that while they remained quite close to tractor serial numbers from 48 until 51, that did not continue. At tractor serial number 310000 a new block was introduced and from that serial number onward a spread between the two developed. By the end of Super A production, engine serial numbers were running 2000 higher than tractor serial numbers. I've checked a couple dozen tractors and the spread grew by about 600 per year consistantly.

JPM: First of all, the ID plate on a Super A is not on the transmission housing; it is under the seat on the left side seat frame.
Secondly, if the plate is missing from there, you can look at various casting dates on the main components of your tractor. Example: 4-2-Y is April 2, 1948. S = 1949 and so forth, there is no V, U and W are both 1951, X is 1952, Y is 1953 and Z is 1954 (final year for the Super A).

should be a number just above the dist or mag on the engine block. just below the # 1 plug on a little flat area . it will get you close as these numbers and the id tag may of been off by 100 or so depending on the year.
