I have a super a that still has the serial on fender, 1951 model, but the block does not have a no. below the no. 1 spark plug. Is this a replaced block or was it made on monday or friday when people are not with it?

JW: As Hal suggested you very likely have a replacment block, and very likely done many years ago when tractor was quite new and at a time when there wasn't a whole lot of used block inventory at scrap yards.

What is the engine block part number? It will be partly behind oil filter and end in R1, R2 or R3. It may or may not have the C-113 or C-123 on there. My Super A is 53 and does not have those cubic inch numbers. It does have the part number 354898 R1. That block could be made either 113 or 123 cubic inch depending on sleeves installed. It could also have a different part number from my Super A.

It may be a replacement block from IH. You could stencil the serial number on the block if you have the metal stencils. I would leave it alone since that doesn't make any difference as long as the tractor is running ok. Are there any casting numbers with C-113 or C-123? That's the engine displacement. The later tractors had the C-123 engine. Hal
