Comparing prices, it looks like the IH pistons and sleeves cost 3-4 times as much as the TISCO ones. The IH gaskets are 3 times the tisco price. Why is there such a big price difference ?

The thing that is bothering me is that the spread is so much. I have always worked on the idea - Price, Service, Quality, Pick two.

TISCO is doing sleeves and pistons for about $70 a hole. A piston for a chevy 350 is $35-50, and they made millions of them. At that rate, it does not leave much for the rings, pin, clips, and the sleeve.

IH is $250 per cylinder and even if tractor parts are 2-3 times the price of car parts, it still seems a little steep.

I can buy a set of factory pistons for a Norton motorcycle for $200 and they never made nearly as many of them as IH made C-123 motors.

Buy from tisco!!!. Disasemble engine make sure of bearing size rod-main. High or lo comp pistons.ECT,. Only a few companies in the world making bearings + sleaves. Ive had no problems.I priced IH for a super M and then threw up!! Also will be using tisco or other for an 806D this year.

Bought an SA overhaul kit from the dealer, it cost a lot, but didn't fit so took it back and he replaced it with the proper parts at no cost. I know someone who bought a TISCO Ford 8N rebuild kit. The pistons weights were all over the map. I think he couldn't return the kit and rebuilt it anyway. The resulting engine vibration was not good. In my opinion unless you can guarantee the parts are from a good US supplier, than one is better off to spend the extra and buy from the dealer. How many times do you expect to rebuild the engine in your lifetime? A few extra dollars when divided over a lifetime is a cheap price to pay for good service and demonstrated durability/reliability.

Your paying for the name, advertising, overhead, dealers ect that tisco does not have. Thing is many Case IH and Tisco parts are made by the very same company following the same specs. But be carefull some aftermarket cut rate price parts are inferior. If they are made in USA you should be safe with the after market parts.
