The T-6 was based on the W-6/ Farmall M chassis. The T-4, T-5 was based on the 340 chassis, having a C-123 motor in the T-4, the C-135 motor in the T-5, and the British BD144 in the TD-5 crawler. Transmissions were the 5-1, with or without TA or a reverser. These units were produced at the Hamilton, Ontario plant. They were IH's answer to the Deere M-1010 series. T-4 serial 501 lives as a one owner 12 miles from me. On the farm we had a TD-5 with a blade. It had 1000 RPM PTO and an external speed reducer gearbox. For several years it would power a 56 blower putting corn into a 70 foot silo. It would keep ahead of 75 horses on a 2 row harvester. Later models were variations of the 500 series.....QR

I believe that a T6 uses the same engine as the Farmall M, McCormick W6, or International I6. The grill and sheetmetal would be very similar to the W6 and I6. I have a book that gives the factory specs on the older IH crawlers, including shipping weights. When you have determined just what you have, post again and I will look it up.

Rusty -- Seems I have a T6 , so will appreciate what you can relay to me regarding shipping weight and other pertinent specs. It is in the bush, and hasn't run for 20 years, so am having to get it hauled out, and need weight to determine what rescue equipment is needed. Hopefully the previous owner laid it up OK, as it has a can over the exhaust and an old canvas over the engine. Gotta be optimistic !

Thanks ---Ken Showers

This is the link for a TD5 photo found here on YT Mag
TD5 is the diesel version. Since you may have a T5, you have a gasser.
The front grill on the TD5/T5 looks similar to the style found on 460/560 farmalls. I do have a NOS carb for a T6 that I bought from an IH dealer in Chicago. They were going to throw it away.

Heat, thanks very much for the reply, and photo.

On that NOS carb, yes, the machine I have is a gasser. Were you suggesting your carb is for sale ?

Ask over on teh Redpowermagazine.com forum. Select the construction equipment forum. There are 8 or 10 people that own those machines that frequent the board every day.
They'll help you. They will want pictures though!
