I saw a beautiful picture of a Farmall 1206 posted not to long ago. What is the horse power of a 1206. And for my own curiousity, what is the biggest tractor (model and h.p. if you know it) that IH made with the "Farmall" name on it. Thanks guys.

Can't remember if it said Farmall on the side, but the biggest they ever made was the 4568. Made for them by Steiger. HAd a 700 CI V-8 and probably close to 300 horse. We ran one for a while. That was a machine and a half. Think the last that said Farmall was the 1456 maybe? Be around 120 or 130 horse.

We've got 2 4586's. They've got 800 (798) cu in engines rated at 300 hp. Also made at the same time were 4786's which used the same motor but were rated at 350 hp. The 45's are quite a machine for their age (late 70's - early 80's) we pull a 9 bottom plow and 27' field cultivator with roller behind with them. They like thier fuel (15 gal hr).

I'm kinda partial to the 7488 myself, even though it isn't a Farmall... that's one tough-looking machine. Too bad it got canned when Tenneco took over the ag division.

The biggest Farmall I've seen in this part of East Texas was a 1486. It was at an auction and it was too big to fit through the door. They pulled the front end inside and filled the room with smoky exhaust (cold engine). It sold for $10,000 to an auction outfit in Oklahoma (Brinkley). That Farmall had my nomination for the biggest tractor in the county.

The last series to carry the Farmall name was the 66 series. That makes the 1566 the largest to be called a Farmall. The name was gone by the time the 86's were built.

My 1566 has Farmall on the small model emblem near the radiator. The model year is either 1976 or 1977. Horsepower is around 160 depending on the injector pump setup. Since the 66 series tractors had the fuel tank (45 gal) over the hood, this tractor can not run 8 hours pulling a 18' offset disc. I use 18.4-38 duals for pulling the heavy tillage equipment. After an engine and differential rebuild 3 years ago, the old work horse should be around our farm for many more years.
