I think it's an M...for two reasons. First the rear rims look to be the two step type used for the 12-38 tires most M's built after the war used and second the hood has that reeinforcement where the steering shaft enters it that the H's didn't have. It does seem to have a lot of steering shaft angle like H's had, but maybe that's because the front end is a little lower down than the rear. Also the rear tire top line is always higher than the hood on an H and lower on an M when the tractor is setting level....I vote for M....last answer.

I vote on an H. The front of the combine looks a lot like the IH 76 we have. Actually it would be a harvestor thresher, I don't know when they started with the combine name. We used a 300 one ours, and it was plenty of power. The book says an H is what you need, if it is a IH 76.

take a looky at the steering rod, look at the angle, the steeper angle means it's an H.

A couple things if that is a PTO drive combine I'm guessing an M and yes I always thought those bent mufflers were from the Farmall power making them lean back until I went into our cow shed that had a whole winters growth of manure in the spring and bent ours back I thought dad was going to bend my butt for doing that but he had done the same thing before. Nice picture, CT

Thanks for the picture. Don't you wish we could keep our youthful appearance? Is that an H or an M? I notice that in a lot of the old pictures the tractors had shorter mufflers. Does anyone know when they changed?

The open doors (in the background) were the driving force to cut off the mufflers. They were mich better long for health reasons, but never fit into the average horse barn door. The exhaust system of a horse is horizontal. (I vote M) JimN
