I've been thinking of converting my H over to the electronic ignition. Is it worth the $100 or so to do it? Mine is still 6 volt. Would I be better off converting it to 12 volt before I buy the electronic ignition? Just wondering what kind of experience you guys have had with these things.

Lincoln, If you figutre in the cost of a few sets of points n condensor that the EI should outlast n more PLUS how if its coupled up with a high energy high voltage coil it delivers wayyyy more spark gap energy to better initiate combustion and improve starting and performance ITS WORTH IT IN MY OPINION. Be sure n get the unit with the correct matched high energy coil and for the correct polarity of your tractor.

I converted my "44 H to IE - and I have no regrets. Surely worth the money.

Have converted two over to EI for a friend of mine. He insists its the best thing he ever did to these tractors.

I have 2 tractors that I have converted to electronic ignition. Both are 12 volt but both were converted to 12 volt long before I added the electronic ignition. Generally the IE is like having points that are set right all the time. If you plan to convert the H to 12 volts at some time I would do it before getting the IE. If not the 6 volt version should work fine.
