what does "X1" mean on the serial tag on M farmall?

i belive only the high compression models ( non distiate) tractros had x1

I have wondered the same thing mine has X1F. I know it is a grade of loose leaf tobacco.Ha Ha.Someone on here will know.

You have a gasoline only engine (X1), and a 7 mph 4th gear (F). Hang onto it, the 7 mph 4th makes it rarer and more valuable (you won't get rich upon sale) than a regular H.

I plan on keeping it it was my fathers. Wehave a two row new idea corn picker,we picked a lot of corn with it when I was a kid.He gave it to me two years ago.It is still a very good,dependable old tractor always starts.Thanks for info and link.
