1256 steering problems

My 1256, that I have owned for a whole 24 hours, has a bit of a problem, no steering after start up. It has no steering, manual or power, until the throttle is advanced to about half. This only happens after start up. The longer the tractor sits, the worse it gets. I think something is loosing its prime, the question is it the steering valve or is it the MCV pump itself? Also the Tell-Lite blinks until the steering works again. The steering works fine after it starts working, so I don't think it is the filter, but I am changing it anyways.

I am thinking it is the pump itself, there must be a bad check valve in there, is my thinking correct?

Thanks
Erik

I forgot to mention the tractor doesn't have a TA, that might make a difference.

Well ya said that it does not have a T/A , now is it a factory NO T?A or did some BOZZO put one of them eliminator kits in it ???? The problem is probably a leaking sump check plug . But there may be other problems and with out being there and doing the checking myself we are guessing . The sump check plug is behind the MCV down on the lower right corner it has a small spring that looks like a ball pointpen spring and a Nylon plug behind that.

No, it was a factory no TA tractor.

I kinda figured it was a check valve.

Thanks for the backup advice there TV, and I assume you have to remove the whole MCV assembly to get to the sump check, right?

Erik
