Can dual (factory cast wheels) work on a M Farmall? Are axles longer enough? Thanks in advance.

muller: I had no problem dualing my 560, 84" axles with standard cast Farmall wheels, inside dished in and outside dished out. I was using 14" double bead rims with 16.9x38 tires. With outside wheels at end of axle and taking advantage of double bead rims, I had 4" between tires.

Smaller tires will give you advantage, single bead rims will reduce that advantage. It is still possible on an M with 13.6x38 tires. To go with much larger tires you'd need the double bead rims, assuming 84" axles. Longer axles will let you do it just about anyway you wish.

I think it will work cause this is what an MD looks like with one set of stock wheels and a set of 9 bolt hubs with pressed steel wheels

Here is 3 different angles, I hope that they help you out. By the way the tires on mine are 13.6 X 38

Brad, looks tough! What do you use the M for? Have you tried it for any field work?

I had to pull out a very large Jack pine when my father and I installed a new road to our camp/cottage. It worked very well and yes it is very tough and also very wide. You can see that by how much of the road used on a recent tractor ride. I did not get a chance to use it in the field yet but plan to this spring at a friends farm.

I put duels on my super c last spring to mow 225 acres of briar infested hay fields on a farm I leased. I used a 8 foot lilliston belt drive mower so I could mow very close. It worked like a charm. It too me three and a half weeks to mow it. But the super c did look really good with duels and mower. Thanks for your time.

Unless,

Ya have the 100" axles, then you can dish 'em both concave and there's room enough to fit.

I'm pretty sure you have to turn the inside hubs backwards to make it fit the axles that way. I say backwards because most of them are dished in - you would have to have the dish facing outward, like when they shipped them to get the narrowest tread setting.

I always wanted to dual-up my H. Not that it has enough power to spin the single 12.4x38 tires, but just because duals make a tractor look tough and bigger!

You don't ALWAYS have to dish the inside wheels in. Dad had a set of M&W duals for the M, SM-TA, & 450 that the steel disc wheels had more offset and the hubs & steel disc wheels could still be mounted OUTSIDE the normal cast center wheels when dished out. And none of those tractors had the long axle option. The center discs were welded onto the very edge of the flat base of the rim.
