I raise 350 acres of corn abought 400 acres of soybeans 125acres of burley tobacco and I do all of my planting other than tobacco with antique IH Planters and they work as good as my 7000 JD at speeds in 4th gear up 7mph Thank You.

Berry: This is somewhat amusing, over on page 2 probably 3 by now, thread called Super A, you told me you planted in road gear. Road gear in most of the Farmalls I've owned is somewhere between 12 and 18 mph.

Now, you come crying to all the rest of these guys how I insulted you, and all of a sudden your planting at 7 mph. Gosh man, you don't even know when your well off by keeping your mouth shut. I doubt if I'd even paid much attention had 7 mph been the original speed. So, lets get it straight, do you plant at 7 mph or is it 14 mph?

The last I checked nearly all Farmall C tractors had four speed transmission's in them, thus making fourth gear road gear, and wide open they will barely run ten to eleven MPH. I never said I was running fourteen MPH those are your words I merely made the statement I could plant in road gear which is true, I have done it a couple of times just fooling around, and could tell no difference in the stand. There is still no excuse for RUDE, SNOTTY Behaviour. I try not to act that way myself.

Berry: Tell you what, I'll remember how sensitive you are, and you remember to be a bit more precise. If your going to talk ridiculous on here, I can think of couple dozen guys on here that will nail you. Maybe you should go back and read the entire threads dealing with this subject. You may find out how many agree with your planting speeds.

If you wish to check the archives, you'll find I have close to 35,000 posts on YT discussion. You'll also find out I was rather gentle with you. Since that you started 3 different threads looking for sympathy, did you not notice the sympathy stopped as soon as I made folks aware of road gear versus 7 mph factor.

Just remember, everybody has an opinion. And other things. Some of us are more diplomatic than others.

Get over it. =) I often second guess my posts, but I just say to heck with it. I know alot of my posts are pointless or no one cares, but once in a while I make a difference and that's what matters.

It's not who is best or who does what, whatever works for you is fine. As long as your happy, why find the need to convince others of your way? Making suggestions is fine and welcomed and some will try it out, some won't. We are all here for the same rason, we love tractors. It's funny, I only have one 300u and I'm in love with it. Sure I wish it was restored, or at least in better condition, but I like it. I've spent alot of time on her with a wrench, torch, welder, whatever I had to use at the time. It's like my cars in a sense. Seems I only really bonded with my current vehicle after I had the engine half apart. It takes a while to develop bonds with my equipment it seems, but then when It's gone, I miss it. My last car was taken from me too soon!! Damn wreckless drivers =(.

See how I deviated from my original point? I do that alot. Some people may not like it, some people actually enjoy it and it brings up new topics and whatnot. It doesnt matter to me, we are who we are =)

Hi JW , I guess I'm like you in some ways . In a lot ways actually . only i'm a pseudo city-bred boy that's lived in the woods or in the mountains longer than in the city or on a farm . I've only owned tractors for a few years now . I go off on tangents that aren't relevent to the thread and I focus on the wrong things . But that's me . I think I've given a good piece or two of advice out of all my post's but most of my replies are just personal opinions of mine and like A -wholes everyone has one and they all stink ;) I can fix my stuff but am next to worthless diagnosing problems because I'm not systematic . I can't stay on point very long because I'm not very well educated , I certainly don't have the abilities that some others have on here to be lighthearted and jovial all the time but then again I try not to intrude on others dark sides . Take care ! ...Randy

What ever happened, or was said don't take it personally. Some peope in the world just don't know how to socialize. Most people with appreciate your point of view because learning is listening, and in life there may be more than one correct answer. Besides-it's a free world, and they can't stop you!

Berry: You better not say goodbye to us. You and I are too much alike for you to go away. You gotta be a little tough around these ol' knuckle-heads on this forum. They have boxed my ears a time or two, and I will give it right back to them, but they mean well. Stick around. We may get rough on occasion, but we all pretty much like each other. mike

Berry,
Every person that contributes to this forum is doing their best to be clear and reasonable. When I first started, I left my email open and still do on ocassion. Back then a reader disliked my opinion of the worth of a farmall I estimated the value of and provided me with a response by email that indicated doubts about my sanity and heritage. I just shrugged it off and kept going.
Most on this forum believe in the IH Farmall production from Cyrus McCormick till CaseIH NH of today. We know planters, and that planting at speed is the best with IH machines. Please do not believe we are mean spirited. Imagine having a discussion with people who are trying their best, but wrong. Or trying their best from a different point of view. Or trying their best and correct for their part of the """World""". Goodby if you must, but contributions you have made will still be here. Best of luck, JimN

Oh heck yeah,

Ain't nothin' wrong with the old stuff. If fact, I oftentimes think is far outperforms this new expensive machinery and ya don't have to be a running to town makin' payments on it neither.

Guess it is a matter of keeping up with the Jones's. Personally, I could give a fig less what the neighbor uses. :>)
