In making my way through our 48 SA restoration, I find the front trans seal is bad and the wear surface on the drive flange has a deep groove. Is there a IHC repair kit similar to the engine pulley repair kit, or will I have to order a Speedy Sleeve from a parts house? Thanks, Greg

The part# from CAR QUEST is 470066 for the seal and they can tell you the length of the speedy seal. Mite want to measure on the yoke where the seal has worn. Do you have it in pieces yet?

Some have put two seals there as the housing allows for that. I would try a speedy sleeve if the sleeve is long enough to cover the bad area. How deep is the groove could machining 10 thous or so clean it enough. I have done several and have been able to place new seal in position so as not to ride in a bad groove.

Hi Gene, I didn't measure the depth of the groove last night, but I'm pretty sure that it's too deep for machining. Now that you mention it, there are two seals in the retainer already. Any idea about a kit from Case/IHC?

there would not be a kit from I-H as these are 60yr old tractors and they have been out of that type of stuff since 84 so there would be no help from them i know of another case that they used two seals as there is room for them.
