Ive seen em in H's!!!! Engine plate, just drill the pattern, flywheel,,, have a custom one made, adapt a clutch disk to the input spline. There are more flywheel options, but I wont list them here. You need frame rails that bolt to the outside of the bellhousing, That gives more room for the block. Best just to have custom made front rails and front axle,,, to adapt the front engine mounts. Id say its easier to put a german diesil in it than a RD. Chad

Not to discredit others but I have seen it done.It requires alot of work.Adapting the frame rails, backing plate, making a custom front engine mount, even grinding the bellhousing to allow clearance for the pressure plate.I came in on the tail end of the project so I by all means don't know everything, but yes it can be done.

Assuming that an RD501 is a truck engine, or the V8 used in the '68 series tractors?

The answer is almost certainly no. With the right back plate, it would bolt into a 560, but then you've got all sorts of other issues to hash out, such as hood length, frame rail width, etc...

A 460 is a narrow-frame tractor, like an H.

That's stupid why would you want to waste a perfectly good RD501 on a junk tractor.
