I need a tractor and loader to remove snow and possibly do some haying. I'm looking at a Ford 5000 SOS, a Ford 901 SOS, and a 504 IH (gas). The 504 is in fair condition and has a loader mounted. The owner says he'd like at least $4000 for it. Is this worth it? What do I need to watch out for when I look it over? Any other suggestions for a tractor/loader would be appreciated too. Thanks.

I dunno,

Money just doesn't stretch very far nowadays when buying used tractors.

Looked at a 5500 houred Hydro 70 diesel today with a "like new" Koyker loader and a brand new tranny. Inside of the cab was total trash.

They're asking $12K for the thing. One heck of a nice loader tho and I really like the diesel, but just can't see that kind of money.

So, don't think your $4K tractor/loader is too far off base.

Dustin J, may I suggest you take a look back at [was on bottom of page 3] so try page four and read this posting--> trade my 8N for a 606????? There are some good things to be checking out when are looking at buying red iron and, yup, even that white/blue stuff, or any color for that matter. Can"t say I recall seeing your "handle" here before, but there is great info here. You will find very informative comments that folks will reply to your postings; good humor and an abundance of information available that is archived and as you look to the left side of this screen, some great reading in links that are provided. Keep us posted, ask away and enjoy.
