I don't have any info on the block heaters, but I do have a 424 diesel that I need some parts for (grill, seat bracket, etc.). Do you have any extra parts or can you refer me to others? Thanks ! Bob.

Two possible answers. Use a core plug heater in the block. (core plugs are often called freeze plugs, they are not) The heater is inserted into the hole from which the thin metal plug is removed. There must be enough room behind the opening for the heater element. (I do not Know which core plug to remove on that block) These work very well and concentrate heat in the engine, as well as being tidy. The second is to use a convection style tank heater. These are external, and are plumbed into the head (usually near the water temp sending unit, or a pipe plug) and the block drain in the lower block. 5/8" Heater hose is used to make the connections. They need to be placed so that there are no loops of hose that could trap bubbles. There may be a IH heater, But I am not aware of it. JimN

I just bought an 850 W generic block heater at NAPA for approx $60. The old one had been on there 25+ years and was starting to poop out. Dont want a fire so bought a new one. We had made a bracket out of 3" channel iron and bolted that to the farme of the 706D and then clamped the barrell of the heater in that. has worked all these years. Usually give it 2-3 hours to waram up before starting.
