Not much to say, Still frozen. Yesterday temps hit 30 in the afternoon for a short time and I plugged the tank heater in for about 3 hours and it started just like it was warm out but still no hydraulics. The pto does not run either. I haven't tried any other kind of warming yet or checked anything else.

I don't get the difference with the pto. That runs off hyd pressure to right? Going down a steep hill the pto will quit because it loses fliud pressure so wouldn't this be the same thing?

Harlen,

On large frame tractors, the front pump runs steering, brakes, T/A and tranny lube. Rear pump runs remotes and hitch. Finally, the PTO pump runs just the PTO.

If you have no hydraulics whatsoever, you look for a common denominator, which is either NO HYDRAULIC OIL or the mechanical drive to those three pumps is defective.

If the tractor is full of hydraulic oil, it has got to be split and repaired because you've lost your "live power".

YEp , it's going to have to be split and a new PTO input installed and a new pressure plate and ya just might as well have the flywheel ground and a new clutch disk new throw out bearing pto input bearing and seals and be done with it . This is going to get into the cookie jar . And she ain't going to heal herself.

Hopefully I have put the cover back on my cookie jar, but I better shutup before my clutch starts slipping!!

It sucks when something like this happens. I know if my engine croaked or something major went that would cost more then a couple hundred, I'd problem just sell mine, unfortunately you either sell it, take a lose, or fix it and spend more money and never see a return once its in there. Hopefully its not something too major and can be readily had for a little money. If you lived around here, I'd help ya out even tho I dont know what its all about down there, but I am good with a wrench...

Since your PTO does not run you have a mechanical problem not an ice one. Most likelly your pto drive gear has snapped or the drive splines in the clutch cover have stripped. Your going to have to split the tractor at the clutch housing to find what part or parts let go and replace them.

also figure out why it snapped. Could have been ice in the pump ?

Most likelly not ice. The PTO drive gear is a weak spot in IH tractors. Could have been failing and the cold oil was just the last straw.
