I have a 47M that has a clutch that dosen't release as soon as you engage the clutch. This tractor sat for 4 or 5 years after the owner died now when you engage the clutch it continues to pull for a second or two anyone ever had this happen? I have the liftall out and everything looks fine from the backside just thought I would ask before removing the clutch.

Thanks all I lubed the splines on the drive shaft It helped some going to try to use cleaner on it next if that fails I guess I will take it out and have a look at it. It is a 11 inch clutch so won't have to break the tractor and I already have the liftall out. Only problem I have is I have live hydrolics and I don't want to run the pump long without oil supply.

Connect the intake to the pressure side with rubber tubing (Idon't know where it is disconnected) and fill with Hytran to lube it, JimN

One possible not mentioned in the good stuff below is lube on the surface of the flywheel. often from over greased pilot bearing. Disassembly and degreasing the driven disk (or replacing it) and cleaning the flywheel will be about the only way if the brake clean does not help. Stay out of the fumes of the spray, and read about flamibility on the can. JimN

Bob and City have the right ideas. Now you can if you want to help it some ifs the problem is rust is take a can or 2 of brake cleaner ands spray the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate real good. If you do that make sure you either block the pedal down or have some one hold the pedal down. That way the brake cleaner get up and under the disc

I agree with Bob; run it a while - frequently working the clutch - and it will probably improve fairly quickly. It goes without saying, while you are running it, make sure you allow plenty of room to stop the tractor without crashing into something. mike

How much have you run it, since getting it going again?

Rust on the pilot shaft splines or flywheel/pressure plate will wear away with use, other clutch problems, such as the linings being cracked or torn loose will only get worse.
