Rj,Sounds like the fuel pump, but these tractors are knowned for this ,I own 4 of them and they all start different. The carbs look simple but there not.I finally found a local man that has gotten mine straighten out.Use a nurse tank{a small tank with a line straight to the carb}and sit it above the carb.so it will gravity feed to the carb, you need to unhook the line from the fuel pump, this will eliminate the fuel pump.Play around with your jets manking sure theres enough gas getting to the cylinders. Also remove the plug on the bottom of the carb.making sure gas is pasing through your main jet.Its best to put a valve on your nurse tank so you can control it.
A belt from one tractor to another is the best way to start these if there hard to start

I hadthe same problem last spring with my F-12, it would start and run for 30 seconds to 1 minute than die. In my case it ended up that one of the plungers, the one on the discharge end in the fuel pump was bad and no longer completely sealing.

If it runs when you put spray fluid in it my guess is the mag is fine. You are just not getting gas into the cylinders which would indicate clogged fuel line or bad fuel pump or maybe even clogged jet in carb. First disconnect fuel line before it gets to fuel pump and make sure there is enough fuel flowing. Next disconnect fuel line coming out of fuel pump and crank engine over and see if fuel pump is working. If all that is working I would pull plugs and put a little gas in each cylinder and reinstall plugs and see if it will run. If it does then the problem is in the carb. which will need to be rebuilt.
