What was the largest IH made with a narrow front end? Was it the 1066 and does anyone have some pictures of one?

I'm not sure what the largest or most modern narrow front was. I somehow can't imagine putting a narrow front under a 6 cylinder diesel, especially when you start getting into those 400 engines. You'd have to drive it on ashphalt or gravel roads almost exclusively. A 1066 had the ability to snap wheels off a wide front, if they happened to bog down in loose or soft soil.

My 1066 had duals and this happened, operator said he experienced a front wheel bogging down in loose soil. At the time he was doing about 6 mph hitched to a 25' cultivator. I can assure this guy was not a cowboy, nor was he rough, just a good solid life long tractor operator that could make a seedbed look like a footballs field before the game on a dry day. He felt a snap, and by the time he got stopped the front wheel and broken 1/2 of spindle were under the cultivator. This happened twice to my tractor. I can only imagine one would have to gather up that narrow front almost weekly.

I am pretty sure that the largest tractor that could be equipped with a factory tricycle front was the 1486. I don't believe any of the 88 series tractors could be optioned with it.

While not answering your question, it does bring back memories of a neighbor with a 1070 Case just like ours except his was tricycle. I never asked if it was factory as the fist time I saw it the tractor was about 10 years old. Looked kind of odd on a 105 hp tractor with a cab. But unique.

As I recall if you wanted you could have ordered at least a 9 and maybe a 1066 with a narrow front. It should be easy to check out because these tractors have a different front bolster because they have the internal parts like a 06 56 tractors for the old style steering. bill

The online parts book shows a tricycle front for the 1486 but not the 1586.

I know the 806 was available with narrow front, and I have a model 1206 with narrow front (dunno for sure about it being a factory option). Sorry I can't help on the 66 series at all...

Here's something newer, but keep in mind that this is not a factory job...

That is a great looking tractor! Have always liked the looks of narrow front ends better than wide. Alas, have converted everything to wide front, sometimes at considerable expense, for safety and better flotation.
