got a leak at the rear axle hub. The leak appears to be from the end cap not the oil seal. Is there a gasket or seal for the end cap that holds the hub on the splined axle shaft? thanks.. bill

Put some RTV on the splines before sliding hub back on. Spread any excess that squeezes out on the end of axle and replace cap. Should not leak anymore.

the bearing looks ok.. but oil is leaking from the axle end cap,, thats the bolt and cap that hold the wheel hub on the end of the splined axle shaft. I pulled the hub off, then the retainer and drove out the grease seal, but realized that it was actually ok.. but it wont hurt to replace it anyway..

Maybe I can make a gasket for the endcap and bolt to keep the fluid from leaking out it...

If the seal is leaking much, I'd be suspect of the bearing(s). There's probably an outside axle bearing-assesible form end cap -and a larger inside bearing you get to from top cover removal. Listen -do you hear any crunching or gritting at all like a bad bearing? On the other hand, if tractor has been sitting awhile & there's just a little seapage at the seal-run the tractor some and get the seal all wet and it might heal itself.
