I work at a county museum. We have 54 acres (most of it is a flooded woods- but we have many nice outbuildings here at the old county home/ poor farm). A number of years ago at "Earth Camp" the Sherrif's county fair trolly was parked here. I hooked it up to our BN and used it to haul trolly full of kids around our grounds- at about 2 mph in first or second gear. Now that I personally own an H (knowing just as little about tractors as then) my question is this: In hind sight, should I have hooked the trolly up to one of our restored H's instead? What gear for super slow speed hauling? I might have to haul kids again at "Earth Camp" this summer and don't want to ruin our little BN now that I know how to start, operate, and generally safely drive the larger H. Your help is greatly appreciated. Signed- Not Too Mechanically Inclined Mike at the Museum.

These guys are right, of course. There are way too many lawyers in the world.... Make the wrong move, or experience a stroke of bad luck pulling a car load of kids with your personal H, and YOU will be living on the county poor farm forever. mike

Check out your insurance to be sure you are adequately covered. The speed of the H will be similar to the B in 1st and 2nd. One advantage of the H is that it has much better brakes than the B, that is assuming they are in good working order.

.....Yea, that is at full throttle....dont think you want to do that....try 3rd. and 4th. and adjust tht throttle for the proper speed.....

I would be conserned about insurance, if one of them fell off....

Your H will probably pull the trolley easier, but if something should happen, you could be sued as the owner of the tractor along with the museum.

Museum Mike: Guy Fay's data book says an H travels 2 5/8 mph in first gear; 3 mph in second; 4 1/4 mph in 3rd; 5 3/8 mph in 4th, and 15 5/8 mph in 5th. So, obviously, 1st or 2nd would be your choice for a slow ride. Hope this helps you. mike
