The cab that I have on my 706 is not much more than a cheese box with a door. I found a IH Deluxe cab for a 1066. I havn't looked at it yet, but my question is, will it fit with some modification on my 706? Will most of the brackets work?

Thanks for the help.

hello,
last year i got a hiniker off a 1466 to put on my 706. i dont know if the floor from a 1066 would fit on a 706, but i didnt get the floor from the donor tractor anyhow. there is about a 6 inch gap the width of the hood under the windshield you will need to fill. on the floor there is a 3 inch gap on either side, in the back this goes out to about 8 inches on both sides. also my batteries were to tall to go under the floor plate, so i got shorter batteries that sit on the original trays, just outside the cab. it sure makes it nicer plowing snow and feeding round bales in weather like we are getting in ne pa right now! i havent been around ih cabs much so im not sure how much different one of them would be to rig up on a 706.

Carp,

Everything should fit except that shroud around the hood. You'll need everything including the floor out. All mounting brackets will be different and you'll have to use the ones off the 1066.

Look at the PTO lever too. Might be different depending on what cab you have now.

And, a bit of a warning.

The deluxe cabs are nothing more than a "larger" cheese box unless you make darned sure that all the insulation/sound deadening is all there.

Noise comes in thru the hood area and up under that seat from the hydraulics boxing area.

I'm putting extra deadening in the doors and up on the roof also; covering everything except that control panel insert.

I need to redo the insulation/ cover on my 1066 in the dash area. I know I can get that from this site or IH. I also want to put insulation in the bottom section of the doors and below the seat. I assume these are not available in anything but bulk and cut your own. Where to get this in bulk?

Mike,

Just about any good sized implement/tractor dealer will have that stuff in stock by bulk.

Thanks for the info Allen. Fortunately for me, one of my sister plants makes interior panels and for heavy trucks, so I can get all the sound deadening and insulationg material I need. Even fancy custom mats and vinyl with fancy little buttons if I need. It would be nice to have a cab big enough to spread out in and maybe have the kids ride along once in a while.

Thanks again.
