Does anyone happen to know the pipe size for a cub exhaust? The old one was so rusted it's hard to tell. Looks like 1 1/4" but even after a good cleaning it's tight, doesn't want to screw in.
As usual, Thanks in advance.

It is 1" NPT (National Pipe Thread). If you can't or don't want to spring for a die, a small sandblaster can do a good job in cleaning out the corrosion. You don't need perfect threads: just clean ones. Also think about a pipe made from something other than steel such as stainless steel. A jobber might have a long nipple in stock.

They are a 1" pipe thread. I just rethreaded one this week, and put in a 1 x 12" pipe nipple.

I think it is as you describe, however the solution is to chase the threads on the manifold. A friendly plummer will help, or rent the tap from a rental agency. They are pricy, but less than a manifold. Replace the pipe with a length of black iron from the hardware store and put silver antisieze on the threads and you are set. JimN
