Our 560D has a big aircleaner right in front of the steering wheel. We seen one of these at the rpru and they called it a Turbo Air Cleaner. Anyone know of one of these, who made them. Are they any good. I looks like an overgrown coffe can(kinda) that lays horizontal with a hose coming out of the front going into the hood and on the top it has a regular farmall style aircleaner. Just though you might know

If I remember correctly that was an M&W air cleaner.

My dad bought a 560 diesel that they took the turbo off of before they sold it and we had that big ugly air-cleaner on top of the hood but we took it off and put the normal 560 air cleaner on it . i have no clue about who made it or if it was good .

That's the air cleaner that came with the dealer-installed turbo kit that IH offered for the 560. They did this because the turbocharger tended to suck the oil right out of the oil bath air cleaner. That set-up is pretty ugly, but I've always preferred paper air filter elements over oil baths, because they require less attention. Some guys will tell you that oil baths do a better job of filtering and that may be true, but they require service every 10 hrs., and lets face it, most guys don't do that. I've been toying with the idea of converting my 560 to a paper element, but I want somthing that would fit neatly in place of the original canister and use the same plumbing. Kind of hard to find a canister that would work.
