I have a "M" and the gear shift is not straight it has a crook in it(no one bent it either). It is a 1948 some on the Who Tractor Ride said only the last ones are like that. Is that right. It has been in the family for 50 years and I don't think it has ever been changed.

Heres my '48 with the two bends in the shifter, I like it better than the ones with only one bend.

I think you are refering to the shift levers from a SM. Also the 400 and 450. Maybe someone can reflect on above the deck as I think you are
referencing. Have I heard you correctly?

If you mean a bend at bottom and another bend on up I think some were on tractors around 47 or 48.

Georgeky. He is not talking about the bend in the shifter itsself. It is like the shifter was turned about 45 degrees and then put in, plus the bend in the shifter. It makes it kind of hard to find gears sometimes when you use to the others. I have a 48 H a 48 M and a 53 Super M and the SM is like that.

My 53 Super M has a crooked gear shift. I just thought it was so you didn't hit your hand on the seat when shifting.

Our '50 MD has a crooked shifter. I never really paid any attention to that. Never really looked at any M shifters to notice. Come to think of it, our H shifter is straight, could be a different animal though. Doug
