I recently overhauled my 560 diesel. Had the injectors rebuilt also. When I first start it up it runs fine. Ater rnning for 1/2 hour or so it just dies. It can turn it over until the battery is dead. No smoke from the stack nothing. Let is set for an hour or two and it will fire back up. I have replaced the filter, clraned the return line, etc. Is the pump going out. Just before it dies it starts to lose poewr and if I increase the lever for more fuel it starts to miss. I really am losts.

I've seen these symptoms occur when number 1 or K-1 fuel was used or gasoline got mixed in. Gets too thin to pump properly when hot. Whatever it turns out to be, let us know for future reference. Good luck.

WE had the same thing on our 560. Turned out to be a corn tassel that would float around in the tank until it lodged in the tank outlet. Of course, the 560 was used on the picker--which means lots of trash even with good housekeeping. Good news is--it was an easy fix. Bad news was--had to take the tank off to clean it.

I dunno,

Just don't think it is the pump. I've never seen that waffer plate fail but what the thing would smoke like a house afire, especially under power.

Think you are starving for fuel. Checked the sediment bowl screen and the fuel tank feed?

No#1 cause is the return fuel line is probably plug or if rubber line as after market replacement line is restricked.

No#2 If that is not the case then you Roosa master pump has a bad flex plate crumbling inside the pump. The crumble pieces float around and plug return back to tank.Shuts the metering valve off.
The pump will have to be removed and recondictioned.

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I had an 806 with a RoosaMaster do the exact same thing, at first it would run for 20 or 30 minutes, then it would only run for a couple minutes, get weak, and die. Did it out of the blue on a silage blower. Good flow, good filters, everything cool but it wouldn't run. The RM has to have a fuel pressure differential in the main housing, if it doesn't the pump just floats and nothing happens, so I started looking at the fuel return system. There is a little glass check ball in in the return fuel fitting right on the top of the pump that failed, it would build pressure in the housing and the pump would shut down. Took the fitting out and it fired right up. I replaced it with a new one, a couple guys have told me you can break the glass out and run it, but I am not sure they knew what they were talking about.

Never had any experience with a 560, but all diesels have a procedure to bleed the air out of the system, any time the fuel supply is interupted. Open all of the bleed vents till you get a steady flow of fuel with no air bubbles. If fuel supply was fine before it should be ok now. If you don't have the proper procedure on bleeding the system find a manual or someone that has one. LE

Like Gary said check for flow, and if that checks out then turn fuel off and remove the timing window on the side of the pump and catchthe fuel that comes out in a clean container and look for coffee grounds. If ya find any the pump needs to be rebuilt.

That is the best explaination for what to look for on those pumps that I've seen. It really describes those little bits of darkened plastic.

Are you getting a good supply to the filter from the tank?

Maybe the tank to filter line is plugged.

Gary
