Im lookin to bulid another pulling tractor hopeully over winter and im starting to slowly look out for two certian tractors, 460 or 560 gas or diesel dont matter mainly a 460, because not as much work to get to 5000lb class as its been done with 560's but massive $ and massive hrs put in. My main question is what would be better to go gas or diesel? never been around the 221,263,301 would they have more hp, lug,????
I have a 560 diesel that does very well but as gas is growing on me very hard, just seeing what you all would think ive herd bad stories about the gas tractors but ive also herd good stories about them. ????? ????? ??

Thanks jeff

Id go diesel. They cost more upfront in parts but last longer in the end. Im not certain but pretty sure diesel is a better puller just by the way they are made. How many rigs you see with gas. I only see diesel (and I used to work a truck wash hehe) Ive washed thousands of them. Milage asside rigs need the strength at the start of pull, lots of it to get moving. They also need to be real tough and do lots of work between maintenence intervals.

Questions Id ask for a pulling tractor. Which engine weighs more (Im not sure). Which has more tourqe at low rpms, which has the better HP and tourqe curve over the rpm range. These you need a dyno reading to really know. Lots of specualation and rumours out there. can cut through all of it with access to dyno or old dyno tests that are already done. check the manucaturer docs, they maybe there.

Im sure one the of tractor experts will know this already and have a answer for you. But if they dont see your post, I figured Id give what little advice I could.
