W-30 compression ratio

Can anyone tell me what the compression ratio ought to be on a standard gasoline powered W-30? My friend has a W-30 in which he has just installed new cast iron rings. At his first pull yesterday the tractor literally "dogged" through the pull. Is it possible he should have exercized the new rings a lot more before entering it in a competitive pull?

Thanks.

Seems when I checked mine, it was around 90-100 psi wet. Not sure what new was.

As I understand, you do need to break in new rings. The cylinder should have been scored diagonally with a cylinder hone & coarse stones to speed this process up some.

Check to see that you have good wet, and dry compression and go from there.

Re-reading my question this morning I realized I should have asked what the "compression" should be rather than the ratio.

Thanks,
