140 pulling left

I added the front and rear weights to the 140 and today was the first day I tried it out after adding them. Now I notice it pulls to the left rather hard. Well, not real hard, but hard enough you cant take your hand off the wheel. It gets pretty tireing fighting it after mowing half the day. After finishing I looked at the tie rods and wheels and have decided I need to tighten the tie rod some on the left wheel where it pulls it in some. Just eye balling the wheels the left one does look like it points more left than straight like the right one.

For the life of me I cant remember it pulling to the left before adding the weights but then maybe it did and adding the weights just made it worse.

Can yall think of anything else I need to look for or at to adjust the steering?

Have you checked the toe-in with a tape?

I havent but I will. I think thats the problem and why I was going to adjust the tie rod. Will put a guage to the air pressure like George suggested rather than just looking at it.

Is there a certain setting for the toe-in or do I just look at it and guess?

If you have the right wheel straight you can tell the left one points out a little. I didnt change anything other than adding the weights so it must have been like that for 30 years and the weight just made it more noticable. If you let go of the wheel within 10 feet you will be doing a U-turn and pointing the other way so its pretty bad.

Yep, that was the problem.

Measured the tires and the front was 1 1/2" further apart than the rear of the tire. Guess with the added weight and the offset of the 140 the left hand side dug in more and thus pulled left.

Inspected the inner ends of the tie rods and the left was screwed out quite a bit more than the left one. So this looks like an easy fix unless something breaks.

Thanks guys.

The front should be towed in a little. Not sure how much, but I would guess a 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch.

Might also have more air in one tire than the other. Was all I could think of.
