Thanks everyone !!! I feel better now. Saw nothing in the manual to explain this. Maybe this winter I will get to try the choke--I live in northern MN--LOL.

Maybe and maybe not. Most of mine start just as easy in cold weather. If the carb is clean and free of water and or grime that is.

Always best to try to start without the choke. It may need to be partly closed to keep the engine running after it starts.

My lawn mowers and Super M are like that, I think it's just a sign of good engineering or a proper Carb rebuild job. It is no Problem. Have fun! -David Goode Coggon, IA

This time of year most engines need no chokeing to start them. Shoot I have a few tractor that will start any time of year with out chokeing. Don't complane its a good thing it starts that way not a bad thing. It just means all is right with that tractor

Most C's and Super C's I have ever been around need no choking. My 49 C will flood and then you have to pull it to start if you mess with the choke. Years ago every time my younger brother would get on it he would pull the choke out, hit the starter and flood it evey time. Then we needed the chain or had to wait an hour or two for it to dry up. There is nothing wrong with your tractor.

It could be a plugged air cleaner. Remove the oil cup and clean it and put in new oil.

My SC doesn't need choking except in the dead of winter either and then only for a couple of turns or floods for sure. It was tricky to start in the winter till I got use to it and learned not to choke so much. If car engines started that easy would never see tow trucks when it hits 20 below.
