I have what is supposed to be a Farmall Super C
The serial number plate had been painte over and I have removed the paint. All that is readable is the following numbers 62073 1815. The first part is made into the plate and the "1815" is stamped. None of these numbers correspond to any literature that I have. Any suggestions to what it might be.

The motor serial number is stamped on a flat spot under # 1 spark plug. They are tough to see but it will be there. The motor serial number may not match the tractor serial number exactly but it will be close. Also the the major components will have the date code in the casting, such as 7*16*X or 7*16*Y where the X is for 1952 and the Y is for 1953. the other part would be for the 7th month and the 16th day. The easiest way to tell is if the gas tank is sitting on the hydraulic unit or if there is about 2" gap.

The best I can tell from your info and georgeky is that it is a 1950 Farmall C and not a Super C. I looked 3 times at the serial number and there is no "1" as the first number. Also the brake pedels are straight and the number on the left side of the transmission is 6 12 T with the number 351131R3 on a plate above it. They are mounted upside down below the IH stamping. The gas tank pretty much sits on top of the hydrolics pump. Thanks for the help and info.

Johnny, about half the old C's you run across have Super decals on them. There is very little real differences in the two tractors. I work a C and Super C and pull the same implements with both. My C does have Super C pistons in as most do these days. I suspect yours likely has them as well. They are fine little tractors. Enjoy it.

Thanks George,
Being a ol' Ky boy myself, I knew you had be an honest man. I live in West TN now. My Dad still tinkers with old tractors and has several steam engines and just sold his old W-30 a few months ago. He restored it when I was 14. 20 years later, I buy my first Farmall. Dad is an old John Deere man but he doesnt think his A's, M, and MT are antique yet because he still uses them everyday on the farm. This old farmall just needs a little TLC.
Jon

Johnny, I don't really think of my old Farmalls as antique either. I work the daylights out of them. I don't use my M's as much anymore due the cost of gas, but I run the Super C for everything except baling and plowing. I mow hay, rake hay cultivate tobacco, corn and the garden with it. Even pull a 8 foot Lilliston mower in pastures with it, and disk ground with a 8 foot IH drag disk that is to big for it. I have done lots of plowing and baling with these little tractors in the past and they will get it done. I have picked quite a bit of corn with the Straight C and a little with the Super C pulling a New Idea 323 picker or the old Woods bros that is sitting in the fence row now. Never got use to it. Darn thing goes around the field backwards compared to others.

Or it is a plain C. Look at the brake and clutch pedals. C has straight ones and SC has them crooked in two places to move towards the operater. Super's also have disc brakes instead of drum and band brakes. You can look at the gas tank to. Super C tank sits about 2 inches above the hydraulic unit, C sits nearly on hydraulic unit. If it is a C it is 1950 model. If the 1 is there it is a 53 Super.

The 1815, should be separate from the other number, and is the max RPMs for your engine, a number thay stamped on all the ser# plates.

Being a SuperC, you should have six digits in the other number. Most likely, you're missing a "1" in front of the 62073, as all the SuperC ser#s started with a 1.
