Well I made this pipe thing so I could push on the piston from below and hopefully take the sleeve with it, well the piston did come out out but not the sleeve, never would have thought that after all that pressure I had on it from the top.

Oh well they are all out now, I was saving the fire trick for last if this did not work.

Will borrow my neighbors sleeve puller, and hopefully they will come out easy.

Pretty sure it is all orginal, but have not measured anything yet. Hopefully will get my hands on the neighbors sleeve puller soon to see what happens.

Is your H standard bore or has it been oversized??? I'd be half tempted to just have the machine shop bore out the sleeves and just oversize the whole deal and put super H sleeves in there. I'd hate to see the block crack because the bores have rust welded themselves to to the sleeves. Might not be the case though. In any event you're getting there.

On the H & M you can drive the piston & sleeve out the bottom. When I ran the salvage yard I had an axle shaft out of a truck and would use it to drive the stuck pistons out the bottom of the bore of H & M blocks.

Most machine shops have the proper sleeve puller. The people you take it to to cook it out and to fix the head will most likely have the proper equipment on hand. I would talk to them about pulling the sleeves for you before you go buy something or break something.

My farmer neighbor that I work for part time to help out, has all the tools & gadgets to work on these H's & M's. Without his experience and those on these forums I would be completely lost on working on a tractor.

Just to jump ahead here, once I have the sleeves out, I plan on taking the head and the block to a machine shop to get checked over for cracks and a bath. Is that the correct next step?

Ten to one you are going to find some cracks in the head. I found them in mine. Went searching for head. FOund three, all were cracked. Several'experts' said they 'all have cracks' don't worry about it unless thay are real big. But I don't like to do things half --- so I bought one of those reconditioned/spray welded heads from the experts in IA. It's time you ordered your new high top pistons and sleeves kit.

Good on ya! Thanks for the updates. I hope the sleeves go smooth, but considering the work the pistons took, I don't think they will. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Hi Mike, with a good hydraulic sleeve puller they will pop right out. The have a pump like a porta power uses and work great if you have the right disc for them

You had the patience to keeping working at it until you removed all the pistons. Good job with picture followups too. Those sleeves may be tough to remove too. You may need a puck to fit the sleeve bore and use that press. Hal
