We've not used my late uncle's bought-new '46 WF Aitch to move any logs lately, but the 656D will put ash logs about anywheres ya want 'em to be, regardless of size. Ash is plentiful around the farm country in north central PA where my hunting camp is, so it accounts for roughly half of the firewood my cousin cuts/splits for me, the rest being primarily sugar maple, cherry and some hickory. Ash is pretty good stove wood and easy to split. PA has now banned the importation of ash firewood, due to the borer issue. Probably shouldn't even be haulin' it back home from up there, but the price is right and it makes the cousin some pocket money beyond his farm income. There is little if any ash around where I live for the borers to infect, if there were any in the fire wood and I don't think there are any. The clutch on his Stihl finally gave up last spring. Got that replaced, now the oil reservoir sprang a leak and the saw dealer says they can't find a replacement. Shame to retire a saw that's likely "only" 25 years old, has cut hundreds of locust posts and several hundred cords of stove wood.
