Is there a source for new brake disks for a Lambert disk brake setup on a H or M? Would they be the same dimentions of a SM, or SH but a different spline? Thanks! Chad

The splines on the Lambert brakes are entirely different than on the Super M. There are more splines and the splines longer (thicker hub). If the splines are good on your current disks, I'd take them to a good clutch/brake shop that rebuilts clutch and brake disks. That is what I did on my MD that has the lambert brakes. They have been on there since 2001 and still work well. The relining was much less expensive than getting new disks from IH. I don't recall the exact numbers, but as I recall the reline shop charged me about $20 per disk, total of $80. It's probably more now. As I recall the new disks from IH were over $50 each and of course you need 4 of them.

I was thinking off finding a simular disk, and recut the spline in the disk to match up. I get all sorts of disks for a pretty cheap price, bout 18$ each for many makes. Chad

Maybe you can recut the spline. I would not know about that. However for the brakes to work properly, the splines must slide smoothly and easily on the shaft. If they do not, the brakes will not release properly. Also, the thickness of the disks with lining is critical for proper operation, as there is not much movement to the actuators and not a lot of adjustment either.

Last time I was able to purchase the new Lambert discs direct from my IH Dealer. Yes, there is enough of a difference that IH discs will not fit correctly on the splines designed for Lambert discs.

Is it just the spline that different? I know on the M,s the spline matches upto a UB Moline. If the disk is the same, and the spline is different, I can recut the splines out from a new IH disk. Anyone got a picure or some measurements on the disk itself? Chad

It's been several years ago (1998) that I redid my M Lambert brakes and threw away the old discs. Best to check with your dealer and have them give you the specs on disc diameter.
