I have a situation with the TA on my 966. It will go fine in TA and does not slip at all, but when the handle is in direct it acts like it is in neutral for a few seconds then jumps into direct. Is this an adjustment or a split and new TA situation? Sometimes it takes a while for it to get to direct, but then seems to work ok after that.

Well with out putting the gauges to it and checking all the linkage and make sure that the selector valve is going ALL the way up and all the way down TO THE SNAP Ring against the nut there could be a BIT more wrong then the previous post said . as he is just looking on the net and probably never done a T/A in his life but yet want to Sell you some parts. If it comes down to the fact that ya need to replace the T/A then do yourself a favor and put one in that has a warranty on BOTH parts AND LABOR . Myself i have always used Hy Capaicity and for 19 years with all that i have installed NEVER had a bad one as it only costs a dollar more to go first class.

I guess i can learn more from you than I first expected. thanks so much.

You should check all of your hydraullic pressures first. I also found this info on a web site SLIPS ON HIGH SIDE (DD) OF TA. A. SELECTOR SPOOL NOT ADJUSTED PROPERLY. A. ADJUST SELECTOR SPOOL.
SPECIFICATION. B. LOW OR LOSS OF CLUTCH PRESSURE. B. ADJUST CLUTCH PRESSURE TO CORRECT C. DUMP VALVE STUCK OPEN OR MISADJUSTED C. CHECK OR ADJUST. D. CLUTCH PACK WORN OUT. D. REPLACE TA. I also have all parts you would need to replace the t/a if interested send me an email. Hope this helps.
