1939 Farmall H won't start

Hello all,
My 1939 Farmall H won"t start.
I"ve done a whole lot with no results.
I am getting good gas to the plugs, I"ve just replaced all the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I"ve checked the points and re-gapped them to spec. I"m getting a GOOD blue spark on all 4 plugs. I"ve re-timed the mag per the service manual.
When I go to start it, it coughs a bit, and seems to hiccup flame out the carburetor a bit, but not really making a huge backfire..
Could this possibly be that I have valves stuck?
Does any one have recommendations?

I think its either out of time or a valve is stuck. With the switch off, carburetor remove the air cleaner hose and hold your hand over the inlet of the carburetor and crank the engine over. You should feel a constant vacuum. Is there a way to loosen a bolt and rotate the mag without having to remove it in order to change the ignition timing a little? I know that some mags have a slotted mounting hole.

OK.
Today, I pulled the valve cover and there it was...
I had 3 stuck valves. I of course did the research on how to deal with stuck valves and followed what I had found. The valves all move nice and freely now.
An answer to your question C.Amick, The mag does have slots to move and change the timing some. I've timed the mag according to the Farmall H service manual, however I guess now having all the valves working properly, we will see if she runs.

have you tired a little ither mayby your gas went bad air clean pipre full of dirt just asking the obvious

Yes, I have replaced all the gas, and have cleaned out the entire fuel system.

With all you've done, she should run, if even poorly for some other reason. I'm guessin' you've got a couple of plug wires crossed.

1-3-4-2 is as viewed while looking at the top of the cap, clockwise.

Yes, I've checked the plug wire setup, 1-3-4-2 several times, just in case I had that screwed up.

It does sounds like that.
I don't have a hand crank yet, but ordered one last week. (should be in tomorrow)
I haven't done the compression check yet. I should do that before pulling the valve cover.
It certainly sounds like it should be running. I've spent close to 2 weeks workin with it.
Brand new starter, battery cables, starter switch...
I'll try the compression test tomorrow and let you all know.

Sounds like you've been cranking it a lot, right? If you had a sticking valve(s), you probably should have heard something like:

''uh-uh-uh-whoosh!-uh-uh-uh-whoosh!''

If you have a hand crank, now is the time to use it. You can ''feel'' the compression pretty well with a hand crank.

Or, check the valve clearances. Or, do a compression check.

But I'll bet you know or can guess what kind of valve failure might cause the flame coming out of the carb.
